London sure has its perks but living in our capital city may take its toll on your love life after a while. Sometimes you just need to break free from your daily grind and go on a romantic weekend getaway to reconnect with your loved one.

Brighton, Sussex

In under an hour’s train journey from London Victoria you can be in Brighton. There are plenty of romantic things to do in this seaside town, from sharing fish and chips on the beach to chatting the night away over some drinks in one of Brighton’s quirky bars.

St. Ives, Cornwall

This picturesque town on the Cornish coast is a vibrant cultural hotspot. If the weather is good, spend your time taking in the impressive views of the golden beaches and turquoise sea, and if it’s raining you could take shelter in one of the town’s galleries including the renowned Tate St. Ives.

Holkham, Norfolk

Heading north from London, the coastline of Norfolk offers miles of unspoilt golden sands and wide open landscapes, especially in Holkham. It is the perfect choice for a romantic weekend getaway spent walking through sand dunes and the neighbouring pine forests.

If you fly to Edinburgh from London, you can be there in less than an hour and a half. Once there, you could visit the majestic castle and share a romantic meal over some of the local delicacies, such as haggis, neeps and tatties.

Oxford

A visit to this medieval city at any time in the year will not disappoint. In the summer, you could punt and picnic on the rivers Thames and Cherwell. In winter, you could wander the cobbled streets through the snow topped medieval buildings. This city feels magically romantic all year round.

Paris

If your idea of a real holiday is to travel out of the UK, Paris is one of your best options for a weekend getaway. Famously a romantic city, you can be in the city of love in just over 2 hours on the Eurostar from St Pancras. Kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower over the splendid views of the The Trocadéro Gardens and the Seine.
